Breakfast and Lunch are No Charge for all students
NO CHARGE MEALS
Gresham-Barlow School District is using USDA waivers this school year to offer breakfast and lunch to all students at no charge through June 2022.
FREE/REDUCED-PRICE APPLICATIONS
We encourage all families to submit an application for Free/Reduced-price meal benefits anyhow. The anonymized data that we collect from these applications help the district apply for grants and other funding throughout the year.
A new application is required each school year to receive benefits (this school year being an exception). Having an approved application on file this year will give your family extra time next fall to submit a new application. We expect to return to normal charging for meals in school year 2022-23.
BRINGING LUNCH FROM HOME (Milk only purchases)
While all students may take advantage of no charge meals this year, some families may prefer to pack a lunch. That is of course okay. We want to point out that these children will not be able to get a free milk with their home lunch. The USDA no charge waivers only apply to complete meals. Milk a la carte costs $0.50 at all schools, like in regular years.
COVID SAFETY
Gresham-Barlow School District and Sodexo take safety very seriously. We are using the same Ready Schools, Safe Learners practices in the cafeteria that we do throughout the school. Touch points are limited. The menu is reduced to speed up service. Fewer children are in the cafeteria at a time. The ventilation system has been optimized. Everyone is masked except for when actively eating or drinking, and hand sanitizer is available for everyone.
